2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Gamuda Berhad, a leading infrastructure and township developer from Malaysia.

Originating as an engineering and infrastructure construction enterprise, Gamuda Berhad has progressively expanded into urban development, establishing a presence in multiple Asian countries.

According to experts, Gamuda Berhad’s 50-year journey reflects the transition of traditional infrastructure conglomerates into integrated township development models. In this approach, enterprises do not merely construct buildings but actively participate in creating living environments and community ecosystems.

Amid accelerating urbanization in Asia, enterprises with an infrastructure foundation, planning experience, and a long-term vision are playing an increasingly vital role in shaping the landscape of modern cities.

From an Infrastructure Enterprise to an International Urban Developer

Gamuda Berhad was founded in 1976 in Malaysia, initially operating primarily in large-scale engineering and infrastructure construction.

According to experts, its roots in infrastructure have instilled a distinctive "DNA" into the company’s subsequent urban development process. While many real estate developers focus on individual residential products, companies with an infrastructure background tend to approach townships more holistically—encompassing transportation, public spaces, landscaping, community amenities, and long-term operational viability.

This is a growing trend in many developed countries, where the concept of "city-making" is gradually replacing traditional real estate development approaches. According to urban planning experts, a sustainable city is not built on architectural structures alone; it requires seamless synchronization between infrastructure, planning, the living environment, and the resident community.

Throughout its growth journey, Gamuda Berhad has expanded its footprint across the region through large-scale infrastructure and urban projects. Beyond Malaysia, the enterprise is present in several Asian markets, among which Vietnam has been considered one of its strategic destinations for many years.

Three New Projects Unveil Gamuda Land’s Expansion Strategy in Vietnam

As a member of Gamuda Berhad—a conglomerate celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026—Gamuda Land is steadily expanding its footprint in Vietnam with 10 projects stretching from Hanoi and Hai Phong to Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. Its diverse development portfolio, comprising large-scale urban areas and residential projects, demonstrates the company's long-term investment commitment and sustainable development strategy in the Vietnamese market.

Anticipated in the final months of 2026, Gamuda Land will continue to introduce three new strategic projects: Central Park in Hanoi, alongside ANesta and Norton Park in Binh Duong (HCMC area), thereby expanding its presence in key development zones across both the North and the South.

  • Central Park (Hanoi): Positioned as Gamuda Land’s new strategic project in Hanoi, Central Park targets the mid-end segment with a modern urban model integrating living spaces, commercial areas, and a synchronized amenity system. Developed on a large land fund, the project features 3 apartment towers providing over 2,600 units. It is expected to become a new destination for modern communities, experts, and customers seeking a high-quality living environment tied to green spaces and dynamic urban experiences. Central Park is also part of the over 270-hectare Gamuda City mega-township in South Hanoi—one of Gamuda Land's flagship projects in Vietnam.

  • ANesta (Binh Duong / HCMC Area): In the Southern region, ANesta is positioned as a living space tailored for the younger generation, aiming for a balance between a dynamic lifestyle and daily moments of relaxation. Offering direct connectivity to the Tan Van intersection, Ring Road 3, and inter-regional metro lines, the project delivers a convenient, modern, and inspiring living experience for young residents. ANesta comprises 761 mid-end apartments, developed to meet the rising demand for real housing in East HCMC and the adjacent Binh Duong area.

  • Norton Park (Binh Duong): Meanwhile, Norton Park is developed as a high-end apartment project targeting the international expert community in North HCMC. Located in the heart of the Thuan Giao FDI hub, the 7.9-hectare project features low construction density and international-standard amenities, catering to the growing settlement and rental demands of foreign experts. The project provides over 1,200 luxury apartments and 30 commercial units across 6 high-rise towers, surrounded by green landscapes and sophisticated resort-like spaces. Embodying a modern international design language, Norton Park integrates over 100 internal amenities, aiming for a balanced lifestyle between work, relaxation, and community experiences for its residents.

According to a company representative, Vietnam remains one of Gamuda Land's key markets thanks to its high urbanization rate, strong demand for real housing, and ample long-term growth potential. Observers note that continuously expanding its project ecosystem amidst market restructuring demonstrates the company’s long-term confidence in Vietnam's growth potential, particularly in areas shaping up around integrated and green urban trends like South Hanoi.

The New Trend of Urban Development

Experts suggest that the Vietnamese real estate market is transitioning into a new phase of development, where urban quality and sustainability will play a more crucial role than short-term growth rates. This means developers need a more long-term vision regarding planning, infrastructure, living environments, and resident communities.

Rather than just focusing on product development, many international enterprises are currently shifting toward a comprehensive living ecosystem model, where green spaces, community amenities, and long-term operational capabilities are heavily emphasized. This is also the direction that Gamuda Land states it is pursuing in the Vietnamese market.

In the context of ongoing urbanization, experts believe that projects developed with long-term strategies will play an increasingly pivotal role in shaping the modern and sustainable urban landscape of Vietnam in the future.
