Hong Kong, 10 September 2026 – At the 11th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong, Gamuda Land Vietnam participated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with MTR Corporation (MTR) to explore opportunities for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) in Vietnam, with a focus on integrated station development.

The signing ceremony brought together Gamuda Land, Son Kim Land and MTR, and was witnessed by representatives from the Consulates General of Vietnam and Malaysia. The agreement provides a platform for the parties to exchange expertise, experience and capabilities, while exploring integrated urban development models that bring together public transport, residential, commercial, service and public spaces.

FROM INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION TO TOD OPPORTUNITIES IN VIETNAM

Importantly, this is not the first collaboration between Gamuda and MTR. The two groups have already established a track record of working together in Australia, particularly in urban rail infrastructure and the integrated development of spaces around railway stations.

Under Sydney Metro West, the Riverside Link Consortium, formed by Gamuda companies comprising Gamuda’sitssubsidiaries Gamuda Engineering Pty Ltd and Gamuda (Australia) Pty Ltd, together withand MTR Corporation (Australia) Pty Ltd, was awarded an AUD$880 million contract on Sept 4, 2026 and targeted for completion in 2032 to deliver the underground Parramatta Integrated Station Development. Metro Station and associated infrastructure. 

The project also includes associated development rights component for the buildings above and adjacent to the station. This includes commercial, retail and residential buildings above and adjacent to the future Parramatta Metrometro station, demonstrating an integrated approach that brings transport infrastructure and urban development together within a connected ecosystem. 

The developments are intended to be delivered in phases following the opening of Sydney Metro West, subject to the relevant planning approvals and final contractual and funding arrangements.

This experience provides a strong foundation for Gamuda and MTR to explore further opportunities in Vietnam, where urban rail networks are gradually expanding and becoming an increasingly important component of the development strategies of major cities.

TOD is an urban planning approach that places public transport at the heart of development, integrating it with residential, commercial, service and public spaces. Under an integrated station model, a station is more than a transport interchange; it can become the center of a multifunctional urban ecosystem, improving accessibility, optimizing land use and creating additional value for surrounding areas.

MTR, meanwhile, contributes decades of experience in urban rail operations and property development integrated with public transport, underpinned by its renowned “Rail plus Property” model, which combines transport infrastructure with commercial, residential and service functions to create highly connected urban environments.

Complementing Gamuda Berhad’s infrastructure capabilities and MTR’s TOD expertise, Gamuda Land contributes its experience in integrated urban development, encompassing master planning, residential and commercial development, amenities, landscaping and community spaces. This approach seeks to create urban environments that go beyond individual buildings, bringing together places to live, work, shop, connect and engage within a cohesive ecosystem.

In Vietnam, Gamuda Land has developed a portfolio of townships and residential developments across Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Hai Phong. Many of these developments have been planned with a focus on connectivity to existing and emerging transport infrastructure, including Artisan Park, Eaton Park and The Meadow in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as Springville in Dong Nai. These experiences provide a foundation for Gamuda Land to further explore and develop integrated urban models aligned with TOD principles, in response to the expansion of public transport networks and the rapid urbanization of Vietnam.
