KUALALUMPUR: Gamuda Bhd has been recognised for its sustainability efforts after being included in TIME and Statista's World's Most Sustainable Companies 2026 list while also advancing to the highest four-star grading band under the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia index.
It was the only Malaysian company recognised in the Resource Generation & Infrastructure category, which covers businesses involved in utilities, heavy engineering, mining support and raw material supply.
It ranked 239th globally among 750 companies selected from more than 5,800 firms across 43 countries.
Gamuda said its inclusion in the global list reflects the strength of its sustainability practices and disclosures, while reinforcing its position as a trusted partner in delivering infrastructure and development projects that support long-term economic and community outcomes.
The company also recorded an improvement in its Bursa Malaysia FTSE4Good ESG rating to 3.7, lifting it into the highest four-star ESG grading band under the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index.
Gamuda said the rating upgrade was primarily driven by stronger performance in the social and governance pillars, further strengthening its ESG risk management capabilities.
The improved rating is expected to enhance the group's appeal to institutional investors, support inclusion in ESG-focused investment mandates and improve access to sustainability-linked financing.
It could also strengthen Gamuda's position in bidding for projects where ESG credentials are increasingly becoming an important pre-qualification requirement.
The company said the latest recognitions underscore its view that sustainability is a core part of its business strategy and long-term value creation approach.
As it continues to expand across its key regional markets, Gamuda said it remains committed to delivering resilient, responsibly governed projects that benefit communities and support sustainable development, guided by its Gamuda Green Plan.
